About 25 members turned up at Barry on what had been a decent day, but which had rapidly turned into a wet evening for a journey on ex RVDC 16, a Leopard with a spacious and airy 51 seat, East Lancs body. After travelling through Dinas Powys & Cardiff we gained the A 4054 to Nantgarw and then up “the hill” to Caerphilly , as per the old 26(36) route. We laid over in the bus station, while some members sampled Wetherspoons new branch in Caerphilly. Leaving via Castle St and Piccadilly, we travelled via Mill Road, and stopped to pay homage outside the bungalows that are now built on the old depot site. Moving on under the low bridge, we reached Pen yr Heol, and turned at the “Bowls Inn” the site of which, now being demolished, (soon to become yet another Tesco). We then travelled via the A470 to Gabalfa, then via Ely back to Barry. The Leopard performed faultessly, and was driven superbly by group member Paul Burgess. A good but slightly damp evening.
