1963 saw the purchase of six Leyland PD3's fitted with East Lancs 70 seat bodies for use as Trolleybus replacements, they were initially put to work on service 2 St. Mary St. - Pengam, and later extended to cover Cardiff's only single deck operated trolleybus route 14 to Pier Head. A notable feature of these buses was the between deck advertising, which was the same on both sides of all six buses. To carry the same adverts on each side of any bus was indeed rare in the Cardiff fleet, but for all members of the same batch of vehicles was a first, and has not been repeated. |
