New in 1948 EBO 2 one of ten Daimler CVD6 chassis' originally fitted with East Lancs 56 seat bodies removed from pre-war Titans. The bodies were deemed to be too heavy for the Daimler chassis and the decision was made to re-body the Daimlers, with 8 foot wide 60 seat Longwell Green bodies in 1957. The re-bodied buses had a long association with routes 7 and 7A which ran between Grangetown and Roath Dock Splott and the 12 to Willows Avenue, Tremorfa, their distinctive engine sound and squealing brakes earning them the nickname of "Splott Bombers" |
